Vantrix Launches Vantrix 360 – a Game Changing Glass-to-Glass System for Live 360 Virtual Reality

By Vantrix Marketing - August 29,2016

Broadcasting and sports league producers can capture and deliver all the live action in immersive, distortion-free, high quality VR.

MONTREAL, Canada – August 29, 2016 – Vantrix, a global leader in next generation video services for transcoding and 360 virtual reality systems, today announced Vantrix 360, its new turnkey system for live 360 capture and VR delivery. Vantrix 360 will be showcased at IBC2016 in Amsterdam from September 9-13.

Vantrix 360 is a purpose-built broadcast quality Live VR system with multiple camera options enabling immersive experiences from glass to glass. “We are extremely excited to launch Vantrix 360 and raise the bar in broadcast and streaming for live events”, says Vantrix CEO Jean Mayrand. “Vantrix 360 is a next generation VR system incorporating new technology areas ranging from advanced lenses, massive video throughput, to innovative cloud processing and flexible delivery to end users on any device”.

A game changer
Media generated with Vantrix 360 fundamentally changes the viewing experience, allowing users to independently explore their own field-of-view, creating an immersive “being-there, from-anywhere” sensation.

Live broadcast and concurrent streaming
Vantrix 360 integrates with broadcast production and concurrent streaming, allowing producers to capture and deliver all the action. Vantrix 360 is designed for live events such as sports, news, concerts as well as studio and post production workflows. The system includes a camera, control station, cloud services, and a player for VR headsets, TV and mobile devices. Toolkits for metadata analytics and advertisement are also available.

No Stitching Required
The single lens captures hemispherical distortion-free 360x182° video output that requires no stitching, reducing post processing time significantly without quality degradation, an issue common in stitched video feeds.

Transform the narrative
Using new replay features enabled by 360 VR such as freeze frame with angle change, allows commentators to tell a more compelling story leading to increased audience engagement.

All the features users expect
Viewers expect a similar experience as to what they can enjoy today on TV and second screens including social media integration and statistics. Vantrix 360 includes features like scoreboards, graphics, stats and individual camera selection.

Maximum flexibility
For broadcasters and sports leagues who look to maximize distribution flexibility, Vantrix 360 allows concurrent broadcast and streaming feeds and integrates with existing production workflows via SDI.

In summary, broadcasters, sports leagues and studios can attract and engage a new generation of viewers by embracing VR as a new and complementary type of media and taking a system-wide approach focusing on high quality immersive video and audio from camera capture, via the cloud, to end user devices.
